Recruiting

  • Torian Graham Decommits from N.C. State: “Back when Dalonte Hill was first hired at Maryland as an assistant, I kept mentioning the name of Torian Graham, a top-25 shooting guard who had just committed to N.C. State. Although a native of Durham, NC, Graham played for D.C. Assault, Hill’s old stomping ground and the very program that launched him into stardom. It was only a matter of time, I thought, before MD made an inquiry, regardless of his commitment status. It never really materialized, potentially out of respect for Graham’s commitment. But now Graham is re-opening his recruitment, and you can expect Maryland to be a major player:” (Testudo Times)

  • Big Easy Redux, 2012 PG Javan Felix commits to Texas: “In a recurring theme Texas received a commitment from 2012 New Orleans, LA St. Augustine PG Javan Felix. Felix has been on an unofficial visit to Texas since Sunday. It was widely believed if Texas offered, Felix would commit on the spot. Sure enough, when Coach Barnes offered Felix a scholarship, the New Orleans PG committed to Texas. Felix follows D.J. Augustin in a fledgling tradition of top New Orleans point guards playing their college ball at Texas.” (Burnt Orange Nation)

  • Can You Steal a Kansas Player from Kansas?: “John Calipari has produced a number of coups in his time as a college basketball coach. Getting Derrick Rose to make the trip to Memphis, Wall and Cousins to come to Kentucky within moments of arriving on campus and taking Terrence Jones out of the Pacific Northwest were all impressive. However, if Calipari can get Perry Ellis out of Kansas, it might be his biggest accomplishment yet.” (Kentucky Sports Radio)
