- Amir Garrett signs with the Cincinnati Reds, will play for St. John’s: “When we didn’t hear word about Amir Garrett signing with the Cincinnati Reds, who drafted him a few months back in the MLB draft, it seemed that perhaps the two parties wouldn’t come to an agreement by the August 15th deadline. Garrett, who has not yet enrolled in classes at St. John’s, has been in Philadelphia with Norvel Pelle and Jakarr Sampson, playing in the Chosen League and getting ready for college hoops. Late last evening, word came about Amir Garrett’s baseball career. Amir Garrett tweeted that he was blessed to be able to play basketball for the St. John’s Red Storm and play baseball for the Reds.” (Rumble in the Garden)

- Wayne Blackshear will be on campus this week: “After stating earlier in the day that he had received the “best news ever,” Louisville freshman guard Wayne Blackshear announced on Twitter that he will be on the U of L campus this Thursday.” (Card Chronicle)
- McGary’s visit to UK set…..maybe?: “After a stop in Gainesville yesterday to see what Billy Donovan’s widow’s peak had to offer, five-star power forward Mitch McGary will continue his college visits with a string of trips at the beginning of next month, according to Jerry Meyer. That trip will include a stop at Kentucky on September 5, which will be documented as McGary’s only “unofficial” visit of the four planned.” (Kentucky Sports Radio)
- Alex Poythress Says Kentucky Has A Slight Edge: “Yesterday, Alex Poythress trimmed his list of potential college destinations to five, lumping Kentucky in with Memphis, Vanderbilt, Duke and Florida.
