What’s Trending: It’s Almost March Edition

Honoring Dean Smith
Among all the ways to honor the late Dean Smith, perhaps nothing was more fitting than what Roy Williams did on North Carolina’s first possession against Georgia Tech on Saturday. With his team wearing ’80s throwback jerseys, Williams had his team set up in Smith’s signature Four Corners offense.
Fittingly, it ended with a layup. Awesome. The Tar Heels eventually routed the Yellow Jackets 89-60, but Williams’ gesture was what drew praise from the social media crowd.

Farewell to Chris Jones
And Louisville’s chances in March? You can never count out Rick Pitino, but Louisville will certainly struggle to find perimeter scoring after Jones was dismissed from the team over the weekend. ESPN reported that Jones allegedly sent a threatening text message to a woman, and local reports suggest another incident that may have been the final straw.
Chris Jones took pressure off Terry Rozier. Also was fearless with taking big shots. Now Rozier's job will be that much more difficult.

As a team that has had some trouble scoring, this is a devastating loss for the Cardinals.
Kentucky Continues to Amaze
Kentucky jumped out to a 30-4 lead en route to a 110-75 curb-stomping of Auburn on Saturday. As if there were still any doubters, the Wildcats have a legitimate chance to finish the entire season undefeated. At the very least, they look primed to finish out the regular season with a zero in the loss column.
Karl-Anthony Towns asked what he’s thinking when Kentucky takes a 30-4 lead: “How’d we give up four?”
