RTC Top 25: Week 16

Posted by zhayes9 on February 22nd, 2010

It’s a new week and we’re back with a new Top 25 poll.  The usual analysis after the jump…

QnD Analysis.

  • Kansas and Kentucky were unanimous at the top two spots in the poll to no surprise. There was also near-consensus on all top ten teams in the rankings. None of the top ten were ranked lower than #11 by any of our four pollsters. The one team that showed the most disagreement was Ohio State from #8 to #11. And how about the ACC with one team ranked?
  • In n’ Out.  Not much turnover this week once again. The lone replacement was Northern Iowa sneaking in at #25, replacing a Wake Forest team that lost twice this past week at Virginia Tech and at NC State.
  • Variance.  There was some variance near the top with BYU. The Cougars came in anywhere from #10 to #15 likely due to how much our respective pollsters judged the lofty record to their benefit or the weak SOS to their detriment. There was also a four-spot swing with Butler and Wisconsin. But by far the biggest variance was where to rank Gonzaga. One pollster had the Bulldogs as high as #13 in the nation; another had Mark Few’s team completely out of the top 25.
  • Conference CallBig East (5), Big 12 (5), Big 10 (4), SEC (3),  ACC (1), MWC (2), A10 (2), MVC (1), WCC (1), Horizon (1).
