Happy Income Redistribution Day, everyone!

  • Who?  Depaul’s Dar Tucker (Mr. 0-18, with an agent) and Southern Miss’ Jeremy Wise (no agent) have decided to throw their hats in the early entry ring as well.
  • More Greg Paulus.  Thought we were rid of this guy.  So…  he’s not good enough to play for Duke at QB, but he might be at Michigan?  Wow, Rich Rodriguez has a lot further to go than we thought.
  • The Man Who Replaced Wooden.  Former UCLA and UAB coach Gene Bartow was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer, and will begin treatment immediately.
  • Dolla Dolla Bills.  Mizzou’s Mike Anderson parlayed 31 wins and an Elite 8 appearance into seven more years on his contract at a minimum of $1.35M per.
  • Isiah Will Work for Free (sorta).  FIU introduced Isiah Thomas as their new head coach today, and he will not take a salary of $200-300K this season (the Knicks are still paying him $12M for his final two years on his contract).  Jeff Goodman thinks there’s a reasonable chance it might work out for Isiah there, maybe he took some of those sleeping pills as well?  Mike Freeman has a slightly different take.
  • Let’s Get Wattaded.  Georgetown guard Omar Wattad will transfer out of the program, destination unknown.

I love paulus as a person (I’ve met the guy several times), so i’ll just stick my head in to defend him here:

Paulus isn’t “Not good enough” for duke football because of his talent or lack thereof. Duke football has the #2 QB in the ACC (Thaddeus Lewis) who is going to be a senior and a QB who was rated a top 10 QB in his recruiting class (Sean Renfree). Renfree redshirted last year.

As such, when this is a long term rebuilding process, it makes no sense to even try out paulus there when it would throw things out of whack and take playing time away from those two players.

This is not the case with UM, which doesnt have any good QBs, Now I’m not sure if Paulus will make anything of these opportunities. I’d guess probably not. But saying that he’s “not good enough for duke” is way off base.

(Duke’s coach cutcliffe actually asked if he’d try as a WR, since we lack any depth at the position.)

Who is the #1 QB in the ACC?

The one thing i don’t like about college basketball is the charades these players put on. At the Big East Tournament, Dar Tucker sat next to his coach and fellow teammate Wes Walker and talked about the experience of winning a game at MSG and how much that one single victory will help carry him and the rest of his teammates into next season. Tucker sounded very sincere and he had this look on his face of eagerness to get back out and turn the team around.
Hopefully he and Koswal will come back because the big three DePaul has is pretty good. It’s a matter of finding Big East caliber players to fill the role positions.

The last couple of years it was Riley Skinner of Wake Forest.
