The First Four is over, so we’re down to the natural order of things, the perfectly balanced bracket of 64 teams. We’ll update the Circle of March after each round all the way until we’re down to one team standing.
Well, UAB and VCU are in, while Virginia Tech and Colorado are out. At least we had them on our CoM yesterday as one of the final 77. Now it gets serious — down to the final 68 teams battling for the title.
A huge weekend of tournament action around the country knocked out another wide swath of teams from the national title picture. As it stands now, we’ve got a total of 77 teams left in our circle. After Sunday evening, of course, it’ll be down to 68.
We won’t bother to list every team eliminated over the weekend, but needless to say, it was a significant amount. And as you can see in the Circle of March below, some serious holes have been eaten out of this thing. (revised 4:00 PM)
The MAAC conference tournament gave us another buzzer-beater last night. Saint Peter’s guard Desi Washington rushed down the court and nailed a trey to eliminate Fairfield 65-62 on Washington’s THIRD game-winning buzzer-beater against the Stags this season.
Clown, thy name is UCSB fan. Although players and coaches alike are expected to behave professionally, fans also have a responsibility to contain themselves. Incidents like last night’s approach by a rabid UCSB fan are dangerous for everyone involved.
