What’s Trending: Just Another Week of Insanity

What’s Trending is a column examining the week that was in college basketball social media. Griffin Wong (@griffwong90) is your weekly host.

Seriously, Another Trip?

Not cool, Grayson Allen. Having fallen to the floor after a missed shot, the Duke sophomore tripped Louisville freshman Raymond Spalding on his way upcourt.

Though the officials initially missed the call, the trip was ruled a flagrant foul upon further review. Duke ultimately got a much-needed win, but Allen definitely suffered a loss in the public eye.

93%

A number that has Texas A&M fans scarred after last night’s heartbreaking loss to Alabama. Down one with just a few seconds remaining, senior Anthony Collins went to the line for two shots. Collins, a 93 percent free throw shooter, missed both of his attempts, causing the Aggies to lose their third game in a row. Tough one.

90’s Night in Gainesville

Throwback! Florida hosted its 90’s Night game on Tuesday, and the Gators were sure to market it with style. This pregame hype video showed players in the forms of those in the video game NBA Jam.

And how about some 90s jams to go along with these Florida (basketball) jams?

To top it all off, the Gators backed up the hype, defeating Ole Miss by five. Well done.

A Scary Moment for Roy

North Carolina eked out a three-point win over ACC bottom-feeder Boston College on Tuesday night, but that wasn’t the story coming out of Chestnut Hill. During a timeout in the second half, Williams collapsed to the floor and had to be taken to the locker room. Though he missed the rest of the game with symptoms of vertigo, Williams appears to be fine and has resumed his normal coaching duties.
