Circle of March VIII
Posted by rtmsf on March 11th, 2011
It’s starting to look a little stark on the Circle of March, as we lost another roughly thirty teams yesterday…
Coming Next: another major bite will be taken out of it tonight, as a huge day of conference tournaments continues.

I see Kansas State and Missouri in that circle and they have both been eliminated unless they get automatic bids. Shouldn’t all teams be taken out of the circle when they no longer qualify for an automatic bid? It seems like teams should only be added back in on selection Sunday if they get an at-large bid?. The circle can then be narrowed again as the NCAA tournament progresses. It would be fun to watch through the tournament with lines connecting the teams playing one another at that point.
No, the way we’re looking at it is if you lose in your conf tournament and you’re a team that will continue to play in the NCAAs, you’re not formally eliminated from the title picture yet. So they stay in. On Sunday night, of course we’ll eliminate the last few bubble team stragglers and be left with 68. I like the lines idea, we may give that a run to see how it looks.
