  • Bruce Pearl Expected to Receive “Show Cause” Penalty: Reports indicate that the former Tennessee coach will receive a multi-year show cause penalty. (A Sea of Blue)
  • USA 86, Germany 83: “Team USA earned it’s sixth win of the World University Games tournament and secured fifth place with a three point win over Team Germany, 86-83.” (Villanova by the Numbers and The Daily Gopher)
  • Billy Gillispie already causing problems at Texas Tech: Reports of multiple staff members leaving including at least one after an altercation with Gillispie. (Kentucky Sports Radio)
  • Lakers’ Luke Walton to play assistant coach at Memphis during NBA lockout: “Walton was recommended by Memphis Tigers head coach Josh Pastner to become an assistant coach on his staff, a move that will go through barring any disapproval by the Tennessee Board of Regents or the school itself.” (Arizona Desert Swarm)

  • Ricardo Ledo cuts his list to five: “Word out this afternoon that 2012 guard Ricardo Ledo has trimmed his list to five: Kentucky, Syracuse, UConn, Providence and West Virginia. No timetable has been set for his decision.” (Kentucky Sports Radio)
  • Jake Layman Down to Five: “Per HoopRootz by way of FriarFrenzy, Layman has narrowed his list down to Maryland, Lousville, Florida, Syracuse, and Wake Forest. Adam Zagoria says he’ll take visits to the Terrapins, Cardinals, Gators, and Orange, but it’s still up-in-the-air as to whether or not he’ll get to WF.” (Testudo Times)
  • Perry Ellis sets in-home visits: “One of Kentucky’s major 2012 targets, top-tier power forward Perry Ellis of Wichita, KS, has scheduled in-home visits with the trio of home state schools that made his final list of four along with the Cats. Kansas, Kansas State and Wichita State each have visits set with Rivals’ 19th-ranked player, with the Jayhawks up first on Sep. 9th, the other Wildcats visiting on Sep. 12, and the Shockers meeting with Ellis on Sep. 13th. As of yet, Kentucky does not have a date finalized for an in-home visit with Ellis, although UK is expected to get the final meeting. ” (Kentucky Sports Radio)
  • Cats Make The Final Four For Brandon Ashley: “Kentucky continues to factor into the trimmed lists of a handful of 2012’s top prospects and that’s now again the case with five-star forward Brandon Ashley.  Ashley announced Monday night that Kentucky is joined by Arizona, UCLA and Oregon on his revised list of suitors.” (Kentucky Sports Radio)
  • Kris Dunn down to two, will decide this week: “Dunn, considered by many to be the top point guard in the class of 2012, has narrowed his list of schools down to just Connecticut and Providence, and will announce his choice later this week.” (Card Chronicle)
  • Louisville makes Upshaw’s first cut: “Louisville was one of nine schools to survive the cut for class of 2012 center Robert Upshaw. The 7-footer from California says he’s down to U of L, Arizona, USC, Georgetown, Fresno State, Kansas State, Maryland, UNLV and Oklahoma State.” (Card Chronicle)
  • Carter slightly trims his list to seven: “Robert Carter has trimmed his list to seven schools (some trim, huh?) and Kentucky is still in the mix. Carter is now considering Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland and the Rams of Rhode Island.” (Kentucky Sports Radio)
