Saturday afternoon featured a pair of thrilling finishes at the same time. Duke and Florida State were flying up and down the court on one channel while TCU and Oklahoma were trading late leads on another. At Cameron Indoor Stadium, Marvin Bagley missed a free throw but managed to turn it into a wild bucket and foul.
Not to be outshined by fellow freshman Bagley, Oklahoma’s Trae Young continued doing Trae Young things against TCU….
Later Saturday night Arizona‘s DeAndre Ayton put up some monster numbers against Arizona State. This year’s freshman class is everything it was advertised to be.
In Butler‘s 101-93 upset win over Villanova, the Bulldogs finished the game with an offensive efficiency of 1.4 points per possession. Prior to that game, the nation’s former #1 team had kept all of its other opponents under 1.1 points per possession.
USC center Chimezie Metu’s closeout against Washington State led to a flagrant-2 call, and even Bill Walton called it a “crime against humanity.” The question then becomes whether it warrants a suspension? I’m just thankful that this did not happen with Grayson Allen.
