More MLK basketball from the Big East is in store for us this evening. The nation’s top-ranked Syracuse Orange hosts visiting Pittsburgh in the Carrier Dome — can Pitt save its season with a statement win before it gets too late?
Game #68. The undefeated Syracuse Orange host the struggling Pittsburgh Panthers in the Carrier Dome tonight at 7:30 PM on ESPN. With a Syracuse victory, head coach Jim Boeheim would tie Adolph Rupp for fourth-place on the all-time wins list. The Orange are led by Kris Joseph and Dion Waiters, both of whom are effective in transition and from long-range. Syracuse relies on its lengthy and aggressive zone to push tempo and create turnovers. Currently, the Orange lead the country in turnover margin. Its ability to get easy buckets in transition and off offensive rebounds is a big reason why the Orange’s record remains unblemished. Pitt has lost its last six games, but remains a viable threat to hand Cuse its first loss. Ashton Gibbs is yet to meet the high expectations given to him this year and starting point guard Travon Woodall is out with an injury. However, the Panthers have never lost to Syracuse during the Jamie Dixon era.
