O26 Team of the Week

Pepperdine. Entering last week, you know how many WCC teams had beaten BYU in the Marriott Center since it joined the conference in 2012? Four, and Pepperdine wasn’t one of them. In fact, the Waves had lost their previous three contests there by an average of 25 points per game. So when Marty Wilson’s team went to Provo and beat the Cougars in wire-to-wire fashion on Thursday night, yeah, it [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2015/01/13/o26-weekly-awards-pepperdine-keifer-sykes-james-whitford-miami-oh/feed/ 0 RTC Big East Microsite Week in Review http://rushthecourt.net/2013/11/18/rtc-big-east-microsite-week-in-review/ http://rushthecourt.net/2013/11/18/rtc-big-east-microsite-week-in-review/#respond Tue, 19 Nov 2013 00:45:44 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=100367

The 2013-14 college basketball season is off and running, and it was a really interesting week for the Big East conference, which saw a number of teams compete in big non-conference games.  Only half of the teams in the league remain unscathed, so there may be some shuffling in our power rankings this week.

Few players in the entire nation have had the start that Doug McDemott has this season.

Tonight’s Lede. BIG and SEC Are Main Attractions. Two of the so called power conferences assumed the national spotlight Tuesday night. One of those leagues, the SEC, resides at the bottom of the power six food chain. The other is the Big Ten, which has produced some of the most entertaining and hotly-contested hoops these eyes have seen in years. The intra-league disparity could not have been greater, but the chasm in conference quality is where the differences end, at least as far Tuesday night’s schedule goes – for both [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2013/02/13/atb-spartans-soar-noels-future-in-doubt-and-indiana-states-inconsistency/feed/ 0 Breaking Down the Horizon League Race http://rushthecourt.net/2013/01/31/breaking-down-the-horizon-league-race/ http://rushthecourt.net/2013/01/31/breaking-down-the-horizon-league-race/#respond Thu, 31 Jan 2013 18:48:48 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=88711

While Detroit represented the Horizon League in the NCAA Tournament last season, prior to this season Butler had long maintained a virtual stronghold on the top position in the conference. Luckily for the current members of the Horizon League, Butler is no longer around as the Bulldogs bolted after the 2011-12 season to join the Atlantic 10. Tonight’s Lede. Top Teams Battle Quick Turnarounds. Basketball played at the highest levels, both professional and Division I, is an all-encompassing enterprise. Games are but a small fraction of the athlete experience. There’s a laundry list of team workouts, weight-lifting sessions, post-workout ice baths and rehab, nutrition management, sleep monitoring, all among other minutiae — all of which influences how a player feels when he’s out on the court. The Departure of Butler: It’s pretty crazy to think that the Horizon League has produced two of the last three runners-up in the NCAA Tournament, but Butler did indeed reach the final game of the season in both 2010 and 2011.
