The WAC finished up non-conference play and no team did better than the Hawai’i in closing out its non-conference season.  Playing shorthanded, the Warriors hung tough with the ACC’s Florida State and then picked up wins over Utah (just its tenth in 57 tries) and a short-handed Mississippi State team from the SEC (playing without Renardo Sidney and Elgin Bailey).  New Mexico State lost by 20 to St. Mary’s [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/12/30/checking-in-on-the-wac-31/feed/ 0 Checking in on… the WAC http://rushthecourt.net/2010/11/25/checking-in-on%e2%80%a6-the-wac/ http://rushthecourt.net/2010/11/25/checking-in-on%e2%80%a6-the-wac/#comments Fri, 26 Nov 2010 04:01:00 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=27828

Fast Starts: Louisiana Tech, Hawaii and San Jose State all got off to hot starts as Hawaii posted a 4-0 record to open the season and is off to their best start in six seasons winning the 2010 Rainbow Classic.  San Jose State picked up wins on Eastern Washington and Oregon and is off to a 3-0 start to the season.  Louisiana Tech won the 2K Sports [...]]]>

The WAC opened up league play this past weekend and after the first weekend there were a couple of surprises.  The biggest surprise came from Utah State.  The Aggies went on the road to open up league play and lost to New Mexico State in a close game and then were blown out by Louisiana Tech two nights later.  The preseason pick to win the league by both the media and coaches has their work cut [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/08/checking-in-on-the-wac-20/feed/ 1 Checking in on… the WAC http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/01/checking-in-on-the-wac-19/ http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/01/checking-in-on-the-wac-19/#respond Fri, 01 Jan 2010 07:45:00 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=14791

The WAC begins conference play this weekend and the league has made a switch to a Saturday/Monday schedule from a Thursday/Saturday schedule in years past.  The breakout non-conference season for the WAC never materialized. The good news is the league finished 73-43 in non-conference play.  The bad news is the league was 0-7 against BCS teams, 7-9 against the West Coast Conference, 5-7 against the Big West and just 4-12 against the Mountain [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/01/checking-in-on-the-wac-19/feed/ 0 Checking in on… the WAC http://rushthecourt.net/2009/12/26/checking-in-on-the-wac-18/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/12/26/checking-in-on-the-wac-18/#respond Sat, 26 Dec 2009 19:04:32 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=14640

CURRENT STANDINGS:

Louisiana Tech (11-2) Utah State (9-4) Boise State (8-4) Idaho (6-4) Nevada (7-5) Hawai’i (6-6) San Jose State (6-5) New Mexico State (6-6) Fresno State (6-7)

The WAC has picked up a little steam in the non-conference now that they have finished facing the tougher opponents and has a non-conference record of 65-42.  In the past week of play it posted a 17-7 record in non-conference play.  Unfortunately the league had plenty of wasted opportunities to notch RPI-boosting wins and as a result the highest rated team [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2009/12/26/checking-in-on-the-wac-18/feed/ 0
