The WAC begins conference play this weekend and the league has made a switch to a Saturday/Monday schedule from a Thursday/Saturday schedule in years past.  The breakout non-conference season for the WAC never materialized. The good news is the league finished 73-43 in non-conference play.  The bad news is the league was 0-7 against BCS teams, 7-9 against the West Coast Conference, 5-7 against the Big West and just 4-12 against the Mountain [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/01/checking-in-on-the-wac-19/feed/ 0 Checking in on… the WAC http://rushthecourt.net/2009/12/11/checking-in-on-the-wac-16/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/12/11/checking-in-on-the-wac-16/#respond Fri, 11 Dec 2009 17:22:35 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=13855

Mediocrity continues for the WAC as the league came up largely empty against the toughest competition they faced this week and they now stand 38-32 in non-conference play.  Last week we talked about eight games and eight chances earn RPI boosting victories for the league.  The end result of those eight games was a 2-6 record.  Boise State [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2009/12/11/checking-in-on-the-wac-16/feed/ 0 Checking in on the… WAC http://rushthecourt.net/2009/02/26/checking-in-on-the-wac-13/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/02/26/checking-in-on-the-wac-13/#respond Thu, 26 Feb 2009 18:48:16 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=5349

Last week was a week of opportunities. Some took advantage while others did not. Boise State took their opportunities by the horns as they completed a home sweep to put themselves into third place. New Mexico State on the other hand did not falling twice on the road after having a chance to rise to third in the standings, instead of coming out of the week in fifth place. Flyspecks on the wall of the WAC

It’s a new season and mostly new lineups for the Western Athletic Conference in 2008-2009. A high percentage of the top players have graduated, leaving just two of the top 15 scorers back, Louisiana Tech junior guard Kyle Gibson and Utah State forward Gary Wilkinson.
