Three More Dance Cards Drawn Tonight. With tonight’s three conference titles from Butler, Oakland and North Texas, we’re noticing a trend this year that definitely makes all the bubble teams happy. Even in the one-bid leagues where it doesn’t impact the bubble picture as to who wins the conference championship, it’s predominantly the best teams that are winning titles. Out of the eleven auto-bids earned thus far, eight of them were the top seed or co-champion in the regular season. The only true Cinderella we’ve had so far this conference tournament season came from the Atlantic Sun where [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/03/10/atb-conference-chalkiness/feed/ 3 RTC 2009-10 Impact Players – Wrap-Up http://rushthecourt.net/2009/11/08/rtc-2009-10-impact-players-wrap-up/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/11/08/rtc-2009-10-impact-players-wrap-up/#respond Mon, 09 Nov 2009 02:02:32 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=12484

Over the course of the last ten weeks we’ve broken down sixty players from around the country whom we expect will have the biggest impact on college basketball this season. We performed this exercise geographically, choosing five high-major and one mid-major player from each of the somewhat arbitrary ten regions of the country. If you’d like to read through the individual regions (and we highly encourage that), you can check all ten here.

If you don’t have the time or inclination to read through all of the previous posts, we’ll summarize here for you by [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2009/11/08/rtc-2009-10-impact-players-wrap-up/feed/ 0 RTC 2009-10 Impact Players: Upper Midwest Region http://rushthecourt.net/2009/10/21/rtc-2009-10-impact-players-upper-midwest-region/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/10/21/rtc-2009-10-impact-players-upper-midwest-region/#comments Wed, 21 Oct 2009 17:51:37 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=11792

Ed. Note: the previous posts in this series (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Atlantic South, Deep South, Mid-South and Lower Midwest) are located here.

It’s time for the seventh installment of our RTC 2009-10 Impact Players series, the group of very cold, very northern states that we’re calling the Upper Midwest. Each week we’ll pick a geographic area of the country and break down the five players who we feel will have the most impact on their teams (and by the transitive property, college basketball) this season. Our criteria is once again subjective – there are so [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2009/10/21/rtc-2009-10-impact-players-upper-midwest-region/feed/ 2 Checking in on the… Summit League http://rushthecourt.net/2008/12/20/checking-in-on-the-summitt-league/ http://rushthecourt.net/2008/12/20/checking-in-on-the-summitt-league/#respond Sun, 21 Dec 2008 05:20:55 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=3169

Ryan Pravato of College Fast Break is the RTC correspondent for the Summit League.

North Dakota St. (2-0) 5-3

The big story for the Bison so far is their 5’11 point guard Ben Woodside.

The performance of note (I’m sure you all have heard about it by now) came against the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. North Dakota State lost by 1 in a triple OT, but Woodside scored the most points by a DI player since Arizona State’s Eddie House put up 61 in 2000. Having seen Woodside play live before, the outburst did not surprise me. News & Notes. We’d like to take a moment at the beginning of tonight’s ATB to honor former Cal head coach and legendary big man guru Pete Newell, who died today at the age of 93. He led Cal to its only national championship in 1959, won a gold medal as the US Olympic team coach in 1960, and was elected to the basketball Hall of Fame in 1979. Although he was before our time, we’ve heard the stories of his legend and he is considered one of the most influential figures in basketball history. May he rest [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2008/11/18/atb-quiet-before-the-storm/feed/ 0
