Miami (OH). Miami (OH) took a wrecking ball to the MAC East last week, and it’s doubtful anyone saw it coming. At just 4-8 in conference play and 9-16 overall, the RedHawks – 1-7 on the road entering Wednesday’s game – traveled to first-place Bowling Green and beat the Falcons, 67-56, then turned around and knocked off Akron [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2015/02/24/o26-weekly-awards-miami-oh-kyle-wiltjer-howie-dickenman-binghamton-2/feed/ 0 2012-13 RTC Conference Primers: Northeast Conference http://rushthecourt.net/2012/10/26/2012-13-rtc-conference-primers-northeast-conference/ http://rushthecourt.net/2012/10/26/2012-13-rtc-conference-primers-northeast-conference/#respond Fri, 26 Oct 2012 17:08:25 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=76811

A Dynasty Grows In Brooklyn: It’s probably fitting that the Northeast Conference administrators chose the brand-new Barclays Center to host its annual media day. The NEC trophy has resided in this borough two straight years and LIU Brooklyn is planning on a unique ‘three-peat’. In the NEC’s 32-year history, no team has captured the title for three straight seasons. LIU Brooklyn is primed to finish the trifecta, but there will be stiff competition. Mainstays Robert Morris, Quinnipiac and Wagner will be in the hunt, and don’t forget ‘Battle of Brooklyn’ nemesis, [...]]]>

Coaches Enjoy Honors: In September, Mount St. Mary’s coach Robert Burke coached in the Congressional County All-Star Classic. Burke coached a team of members of Congress while George Washington mentor Mike Lonergan guided a team of lobbyists.  The game was at GW’s Smith Center. Hopefully Burke did not allow his ‘club’ a lengthy recess. In other news, Wagner assistant Bobby Hurley was inducted into the Duke University Hall of Fame in September. Hurley scored over 1,700 points, handed out an NCAA record 1,076 assists and led Duke to two [...]]]>

LYNDHURST, NJ – ‘It is a marathon not a sprint,’ the coaches tell you. That analogy of the college season is very true. In the case of the Northeast Conference race, Robert Morris grabbed the early lead and led a good portion of the way. Quinnipiac was at the head of the second pack, trying to keep the pace setter in sight. The Colonials hit the wall about the 24 mile mark (maybe the 25.5 mile as Robert Morris held the lead from [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/03/04/nec-tournament-preview/feed/ 0 2009-10 Conference Primers: #30 – NEC http://rushthecourt.net/2009/10/06/2009-10-conference-primers-30-nec/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/10/06/2009-10-conference-primers-30-nec/#respond Wed, 07 Oct 2009 05:36:08 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=11527

Decided to take a tempo free look at the Northeast Conference. The win-loss record includes all games, though everyone has a couple conference games in the total. The plus-minus is the difference between offensive and defensive points per possession. Naturally a figure on the plus side is good, while a minus figure suggests defense (most likely)  should be addressed. The far right column is the average possessions per game. In the sixties is slow to moderate. [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2008/12/13/checking-in-on-the-northeast-conference/feed/ 0
