Nebraska’s 15-point trouncing of Northwestern last week was a statement win for the Huskers, and not just because it marked their first road victory of the season. It was the confidence Tim Miles’ group played with — dominating the final eight minutes of the contest — that opened eyes in both Allstate Arena and beyond. Defensively, Nebraska held the Wildcats to 0.89 points per possession on just 29.2 percent shooting; offensively, the team’s go-to playmakers came through when it counted. “I think it… solidifies our vision of what we can be. Like, ‘You know what? This is possible,’” Miles said [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2018/01/08/in-search-of-a-big-ten-darkhorse-look-no-further-than-nebraska/feed/ 0 The RTC Big Ten Podcast: And Your Big Ten Champion Is… http://rushthecourt.net/2016/03/01/the-rtc-big-ten-podcast-and-your-big-ten-champion-is/ http://rushthecourt.net/2016/03/01/the-rtc-big-ten-podcast-and-your-big-ten-champion-is/#respond Tue, 01 Mar 2016 16:01:11 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=118362

It’s hard to say that the number one team in the country is a work in progress, but Michigan State struggled in their 58-52 win over Florida on Saturday. The Spartans scored a season-low 58 points and only managed 0.95 points per possession on 37 percent shooting from the floor. Outrebounding the Gators by 11 caroms helped, but it’s worth watching whether the Spartans can win the Big Ten without getting additional scoring from other sources. Nebraska notched a hard-fought comeback win on Sunday afternoon, coming back from double-digits against a solid Rhode Island squad. The main catalyst in the rally [...]]]>

Three Ways the Big Ten’s Bottom Tier Can Move Up http://rushthecourt.net/2015/11/05/three-ways-the-big-tens-bottom-tier-can-move-up/ http://rushthecourt.net/2015/11/05/three-ways-the-big-tens-bottom-tier-can-move-up/#respond Thu, 05 Nov 2015 16:01:15 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=109886

Along with Rutgers, Minnesota, Penn State and Nebraska finished among the bottom four of the league standings last season. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Knights, they appear to have more than one fix they need to make in order to climb out of the Big Ten basement. The other three cellar-dwellers, however, are in better shape, with each having a reasonable chance to move up the ladder if a few things break their way this season. Here are three things that, if enabled, would allow the Gophers, Nittany Lions and Cornhuskers to make their way into the middle of the pack.
