RTC_NCAA15

It’s time to play RTC 2015 Bracket Nonsense, and we’re pleased to announce that we’re going to have some neat prizes in the game this year.

Last year we gave away some Louisville gear related to the 1986 Final Four that the Cardinals won in Dallas. The year before that we traveled to Atlanta with some memorabilia celebrating the 1977 and 2007 Final Fours that took place in the Peach State. Before that, we went on the Road to New Orleans with a Pistol Pete Maravich jersey as our grand prize. Even before then, we went to Houston with a Clyde the Glide Cougars jersey. You get the point. We love our nostalgia and celebration of the game through retro gear. This year, we’re on the same track. Here’s what you need to know:

We’ll have three different prize levels this year — one for each weekend — and we think that you’ll like them.

Prizes For Each Weekend of Bracket Nonsense

  • First Weekend Prize: The player who gets the most Bracket Nonsense points during the Second and Third Rounds will win a retro version of a Hickory High School #23 jersey from the movie Hoosiers (pictured above, far left).
  • Second Weekend Prize: The player who picks the most correct games during the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds (using the second weekend results only) will win a vintage 1980 Indianapolis Final Four t-shirt (pictured above, center). This celebrates the first time the Final Four was played in Indy some 35 years ago at the old Market Square Arena, when Louisville defeated UCLA for its first-ever national title.
  • Grand Prize. The player who wins RTC 2015 Bracket Nonsense with the most total points after the Championship Game will win an autographed Bob Knight 32-0 “Still Undefeated” basketball (pictured above, far right) (note that this ball was provided by Steiner Sports — take a look at the rest of their basketball memorabilia here). This ball is particularly interesting this season given that Kentucky is chasing Knight’s 1976 National Championship Indian team to become the first unbeaten team in nearly four decades of college basketball. This is a fantastic piece of memorabilia that any college basketball fan would love to have in his collection.

There you have it. Some great prizes are on the line this year, and you can win something in each of the next three weeks. Don’t forget to sign up before Noon ET on Thursday! Happy March Madness!

It’s time to play RTC 2014 Bracket Nonsense, and we’re pleased to announce that we’re going to have some outstanding prizes in the game this year. Last year we traveled to Atlanta with some memorabilia celebrating the 1977 and 2007 Final Fours that took place in the Peach State. The year before that, we went on the Road to New Orleans with a Pistol Pete Maravich jersey as our grand prize. Even before then, we went to Houston with a Clyde the Glide Cougars jersey. Prior to that it was a Hickory High School (Indiana) jacket. You get the point. We love our nostalgia and celebration of the game through retro gear. This year, we’ve done ourselves even one better. Here’s what you need to know:

We’ll have three different prize levels this year — one for each weekend — and they’re all pretty awesome.

Yeah, You Can Win Tickets to This Year’s Final Four

  • First Weekend Prizes: The player who gets the most Bracket Nonsense points during the Second and Third Rounds will win their choice of a vintage 1986 Louisville national championship t-shirt (pictured below) OR a pair of tickets to the 2014 Final Four. Here’s the catch on the tickets — you actually have to show up in DFW in three weeks to receive the prize. You can do whatever you want with them after that point, but you have to meet us on the ground to earn the prize. If you can’t get there, take the t-shirt and we’ll move down the list to the next highest-ranked player.

  • Second Weekend Prizes: The player who picks the most correct games during the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds (using the second weekend results only) will win a 1986 Louisville Cardinals autographed basketball (pictured above). This celebrates the last time the Final Four was played in the DFW Metroplex area, nearly 30 years ago at the old Reunion Arena in Dallas when the Cards defeated Duke for its second national title. Denny Crum, Milt Wagner, Pervis Ellison… they’re all on there. This is a really neat historical keepsake.
  • Grand Prize. The player who wins RTC 2014 Bracket Nonsense with the most total points after the Championship Game will win an autographed Texas Longhorns Kevin Durant jersey (pictured above, to honor Texas, of course). The Durantula may not have had a long run in March Madness during his one season in Austin during the 2006-07 season, but he’s become one of the very best basketball players in the entire world since, and this is a fantastic piece of memorabilia that any college basketball fan would love to have in his collection.

RTC_final4_atlanta

Welcome to the sixth annual RTC 2013 Bracket Nonsense. Last year we were on the Road to New Orleans with a Pistol Pete Maravich jersey as our grand prize. The year before that we went with a Clyde the Glide Houston Cougars jersey. Prior to that it was a Hickory High School (Indiana) jacket. You get the point. We love our nostalgia and celebration of the game through retro gear. Luckily, this year we happen to have partnered up with the company that without question is making the coolest retro college basketball shorts, jerseys and other items within the industry — Retro College Cuts, “where old school meets new school.” Between the prizes RCC is supplying along with our own swag, there’s no excuse for not playing this year! Here’s what you need to know:

We’ll have three different prize levels this year — one for each weekend — and they’re all pretty awesome.

  • First Weekend Prizes: The player who gets the most points during the Second and Third Rounds will win a free t-shirt of their choice from RCC (for what it’s worth, the Philly Big 5 one is phenomenal). Additionally, to celebrate the 1977 Final Four played at the Omni in Atlanta and won by Marquette, RTC will also throw in a really neat authentic souvenir Media Pin that was given out at that year’s event (above left). Big Al would be proud.
  • Second Weekend Prizes: The player who picks the most correct games during the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds (using the second weekend results only) will win a free pair of retro game shorts from RCC. Plus, to celebrate the 2007 Final Four played at the Georgia Dome and won by Florida, RTC will throw in an autographed championship photo of Gator MOPs Joakim Noah (2006) and Corey Brewer (2007) (above center).
  • Grand Prizes. The player who wins RTC 2013 Bracket Nonsense with the most total points after the Championship Game will win a version of the 1990 Lethal Weapon 3 Georgia Tech throwback shorts from RCC (to honor the ATL, of course), as well as an additional free pair of retro game shorts and a t-shirt of their choice. To remember the 2002 Final Four, also played at the Georgia Dome and won by Maryland, RTC will give away a commemorative basketball signed by former head coach Gary Williams (above right). The runner-up this year will also receive a free pair of shorts and a t-shirt from Retro College Cuts.

Play RTC 2012 Bracket Nonsense to Win a Pistol Pete or Team Jersey!

Posted by rtmsf on March 11th, 2012

It’s that time of year again, and we’re back with the fifth annual Bracket Nonsense competition here at RTC. As always, we’re tying our grand prize into the location of the Final Four, and what’s more New Orleans than the Ricky Rubio of his era (x 10), Pistol Pete Maravich. Maravich of course starred at LSU a little up the road in Baton Rouge, averaging an incomprehensible 44.2 points per game in his three years as a Tiger, and went on to become the toast of The Big Easy during his years as the star of a little-known NBA franchise called the New Orleans Jazz. If there was every a player who more accurately fit a city’s theme of smooth jazz, flash, with some sugar on top, we can’t think of a better fit than The Pistol and ‘Nawlins. Therefore, our grand prize this season is a throwback Maravich Jazz jersey from NBA Hardwood Classics. The second and third place prizes are a little more contemporary, and are listed below. Join up to win!

2011 RTC Bracket Nonsense Winner: Pimp Slap Kids

Posted by rtmsf on April 9th, 2011

It was certainly an wild and weird tournament this year, with a #3, #4, #8 and #11 seed each making the Final Four in Houston.  As an example, not a single entry of our 75 in this year’s Bracket Nonsense game picked either Connecticut or Butler in the championship game.  Only two entrants picked half of the Final Four, and two-thirds of the group didn’t even get one.

With that said, here’s this year’s top ten finishers.  If the owners of the Pimp Slap Kids and KennyTheMouseMcFadden’sRevenge could get in touch with us at rushthecourt@yahoo.com, then we’ll make sure to get you out your prizes.  Remember, first prize is a Houston Cougars Clyde “The Glide” Drexler jersey, and second prize is a Phi Slama Jama t-shirt.  Quick note: Last year’s winner, Greeksmoke, finished eleventh.

Thanks to everyone who played again this year, and we’ll see you guys on the Road to New Orleans roughly eleven months from now!
