Last week, RTC spoke with Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated and CBS to talk about a variety of topics on college basketball and a new promotion for Coke Zero. This is not the first time we have spoken with Seth as we interviewed him last March for the launch of his book “When March Went Mad” about the 1979 championship game between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Before the interview officially began, Seth expressed his displeasure about not getting linked every day in the Morning Five. We would give you the transcript of that discussion, but Chinese government regulations prohibit [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/29/rtc-interview-seth-davis-on-college-basketball-his-new-show-and-fannovation/feed/ 4 Checking in on… the Big East http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/06/checking-in-on-the-big-east-16/ http://rushthecourt.net/2010/01/06/checking-in-on-the-big-east-16/#respond Wed, 06 Jan 2010 23:03:51 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=14965

It has been a long time since there was a good college basketball team in the NYC metro area. Unless you consider Storrs, CT, in the NYC metro area.

This season was supposed to be different. Seton Hall had added transfers Herb Pope, Jamel Jackson, Jeff Robinson, and Keon Lawrence to a solid core. St. John’s was bringing everyone back, including one of the most underrated players in the league in DJ Kennedy. Make no mistake about it: Villanova is the underdog tomorrow. North Carolina is favored by 7.5 points in Vegas and by 4 points by KenPom (with a 66 percent chance of victory).

After last night’s fantastic games (especially the Villanova–Pittsburgh game last night–probably the best game I have ever been to), we are hoping that today’s match-ups can equal what we saw last night. One of the more interesting things from the coverage last night (other than the fact that CBS cut to their regularly scheduled programming soon after the game was over according to reports that I have heard) is how little publicity ESPN and other media entities are giving the Scottie Reynolds mad dash to win the game. I’m assuming that most of you got a chance to see this game unlike the last RTC Live when Providence knocked off #1 Pittsburgh. As a result this RTC Aftermath will not be quite as extensive as our first edition, but what we lack in length we will make up for in quality.

RTC Live – ND at UConn

We’re following up Tuesday Night’s RTC Live where Providence knocked off #1 Pittsburgh leading to the first RTC Aftermath with a trip to Storrs, Connecticut, where Notre Dame will attempt to knock off UConn. While the game is significant for the Huskies (a win would mean they would go back to #1), it is enormous for the Fighting Irish. RTC Intern Mike Lemaire contributed to tonight’s ATB.

Marquette Loses Their Heart & Soul. Connecticut 93, Marquette 82. Marquette announced at halftime that their senior leader and heart/soul of the team, PG Dominic James, had broken the fifth metatarsal in his left foot and will not play again this season. He hurt it on a seemingly innocuous play just four minutes into the first half, but the x-rays don’t lie, and this is a potentially devastating blow to the Golden Eagles as we approach the postseason. James had re-invented his game this year, becoming less [...]]]> http://rushthecourt.net/2009/02/26/atb-marquettes-dominic-james-out-for-the-season/feed/ 0 Game Night: Pittsburgh at UConn http://rushthecourt.net/2009/02/16/game-night-pittsburgh-at-uconn/ http://rushthecourt.net/2009/02/16/game-night-pittsburgh-at-uconn/#comments Mon, 16 Feb 2009 22:53:48 +0000 http://rushthecourt.net/?p=4860
