And here are our final standings for the Grand Prize. Congratulations to ROLUBFLYER for consistently playing well enough across the six games to take home the prize this season.

Here are this year’s top 10.

Thanks to everyone who played Conference Survivor this season!

And just like that, the regular season (and thus Week 10 of Conference Survivor) is over. The final game ended in a tie, as MCF.JACK and SHEBA_EER both lost their final picks with Arizona State.

Here’s where we ended up.

  • ACC: SURVIVOR — Sheba_EER (scoring: 0/25/50/75/100)
  • Big East: SURVIVOR – ROLUBFLYER (scoring: 0/17/33/50/67/83/100)
  • Big Ten: SURVIVOR – TRANQUIL CHAOS (scoring: 0/13/27/40/53/67/80)
  • Big 12: SURVIVOR – ADAVEN90 (scoring: 0/13/27/40/53/67/80)
  • Pac-12SURVIVORS – MCF.JACK & SHEBA_EER (scoring 0/9/18/27/36/45/54/63/72/81/90)
  • SEC: SURVIVOR — WittWortham2 (scoring: 0/33/67/100)

Week 9 is in the books and we’re down to the final two players in the Pac-12 game. Regardless of what happens this week, they will share in the championship because they both have the same team (Arizona State) in W10.

This is where we stand through nine weeks of Conference Survivor ’17. We will tally the totals for the grand prize next weekend. Thanks to everyone for playing this season!

  • ACC: SURVIVOR — Sheba_EER (scoring: 0/25/50/75/100)

Week 8 finished off two more games, as the Big Ten and Big 12 were finally won by TRANQUIL CHAOS and ADAVEN90, respectively. Congrats to those guys as we head into Week 9 with only one game still playing — the Pac-12.

  • ACC: SURVIVOR — Sheba_EER (scoring: 0/25/50/75/100)
  • Big East: SURVIVOR – ROLUBFLYER (scoring: 0/17/33/50/67/83/100)
  • Big Ten: SURVIVOR – TRANQUIL CHAOS (scoring: 0/10/20/30/40/50/60/70/80)
  • Big 12: SURVIVOR – ADAVEN90 (scoring: 0/10/20/30/40/50/60/70/80)
  • Pac-12: 3 survivors

Week 7 solved for nothing, so we continue onward with the Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12.

  • ACC: SURVIVOR — Sheba_EER
  • Big East: SURVIVOR – ROLUBFLYER
  • Big Ten: 3 survivors
  • Big 12: 4 survivors
  • Pac-12: 4 survivors (note below)
  • SEC: SURVIVOR — WittWortham2

Same as last week, note that because the survivors in the Pac-12 game took the same teams this week, they will advance to Week 9 regardless. But also note that they will only get credit for a winning week if they actually win the week.

  • Big Ten: 3 survivors
  • Big 12: 4 survivors
  • Pac-12: 4 survivors
  • SEC: SURVIVOR — WittWortham2

Same as last week, note that because the survivors in the Big Ten and Pac-12 games took the same teams this week, they will advance to Week 8 regardless. But also note that they will only get credit for a winning week if they actually win the week.

Deadline is Monday, January 16, at 11:30 AM ET.

Week 2 of Conference Survivor went a little better, but not great. Here’s how it looks after two weeks.

  • ACC: 18 survivors
  • Big East: 24 survivors
  • Big Ten: 41 survivors* (more on this below)
  • Big 12: 93 survivors
  • Pac-12: 16 survivors
  • SEC: 17 survivors
Now, the asterisk in the Big Ten refers to everyone losing in Week 2. When that occurs, everyone who was still alive after Week 1 automatically advances to Week 3. The caveat is that, in the final calculation for the grand prize, the winner(s) of the Big Ten game will not get credit for a win in W2. For example, if the Big Ten winner gets 9 of the 10 total weeks correct, he will get 90 points as the victor in that game.
Reopened Big Ten W3 picks: Aside from that, the everyone-loses-but-advances rule wasn’t clearly outlined in the original game rules, so I’m going to allow any W1 Big Ten winner who submitted a fair pick in W2 to submit a pick in W3 too. Since Maryland and Indiana play tonight, they’re off the table, and those who chose one of those teams are locked. Also keep in mind that your first two picks in W1 and W2 are considered used and therefore off the table. Your W3 pick must be a new team. Email rushthecourt@yahoo.com by 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday if you want to take advantage of this.

  • Big Ten: 53 Survivors
  • Big 12: 160 Survivors
  • Pac-12: 28 Survivors
  • SEC: 38 Survivors

We will validate the first week after it has completed. If you lost, you will be removed from subsequent weeks.

Welcome to Conference Survivor ’17! We have about 166 entrants this season (unvalidated), and will get through the next 10 weeks with as many survivors as possible.

A quick reminder recap on the Rules:

  • Pick ONE team in each of the conference #cbbsurvivor games in which you want to play each week for as long as you’re still alive.
  • You cannot choose teams that you have already chosen in previous weeks, and it is your responsibility to know which teams you’ve already used (but we will cross-check them).
  • If your team goes unbeaten in league play that week, you advance to next week (note: your team MUST play at least one CONFERENCE game; otherwise, you are eliminated).
  • If your team loses at least one CONFERENCE game, you are eliminated. (note: if every chosen team loses that week, everyone survives and advances to the next week)
  • If you attempt to use the same team twice in a conference season, or if your team does not play any CONFERENCE games that week, or if you miss a weekly deadline, you are eliminated.

Scoring

  • There are 100 points available for each of the six conference survivor games, for a maximum total of 600 points. The Grand Prize winner will be the player with the most total points across the six games.
  • Each game will be prorated by the number of weeks the game goes. If, for example, a game goes for five total weeks to crown a champion(s), the winner(s) would receive 100 points, those who picked four weeks successfully would get 80 points, three weeks gets 60 points, and so forth.
  • Players will only receive points for successfully chosen picks. This means that in the event of weeks where everyone in a conference survivor game loses, nobody will receive points for that week even though everyone will still advance. The champions of a 10-week league therefore would receive 90 points, and so on down the list.

Prizes

  • The Grand Prize winner will receive semifinals/finals tickets to the conference tournament of his choice this season.
  • Runners-up #2-#5 will receive RTC t-shirts.

As always, reach out to @rushthecourt or rushthecourt@yahoo.com with questions or concerns. Thanks for playing, and good luck!
