RTC Live heads into the holiday weekend with an interesting crosstown rivalry game involving one of the top 10 teams in America. Join us this evening from the Bradley Center, after the jump.
Game #57. After suffering their first loss of the season Monday at LSU, the Marquette Golden Eagles return home Thursday to battle their crosstown rival, the Milwaukee Panthers. The Golden Eagles, who sit at 10-1, are led by senior guard Darius Johnson-Odom and senior big man Jae Crowder. The Panthers, who sit at 9-3, are led by senior guard Kaylon Williams and sophomore forward Kyle Kelm. While Buzz Williams’ squad is the heavy favorite in this all-Milwaukee contest, do not be surprised if Rob Jeter is able to rally his Panthers to keep this one close.
Recap
In an offensive struggle, Marquette was able to top Milwaukee 64-50 on Thursday night. The Golden Eagles were led by guard Junior Cadougan, who tied a career-high with 15 points. Darius Johnson-Odom and Davante Gardner chipped in with 12 each. Milwaukee struggled all night offensively, as they finished shooting just 26.7% from the field. The Panthers were led by guard Ryan Allen, who led all scorers with 16 points. Allen also collected a career-high 13 rebounds and blocked six shots. The win marked the 39th consecutive time that the Golden Eagles topped the Panthers, which is good for the second longest active win streak involving two Division 1 teams. The longest such streak is between Syracuse and Colgate, as the Orange have been victorious 45 straight times. Marquette’s victory moves them to 11-1 on the season, while the loss drops Milwaukee to 9-4.
