It’s Big 5 action on RTC Live tonight, as two teams from the City of Brotherly Love go at it on the city’s north side. Join us this December evening for Villanova at Temple in what’s sure to be a great one, after the jump.
Game #51. RTC will go Live for the first time ever from the Liacouras Center Saturday at 5:00 PM as Temple hosts Villanova. The Big 5 rivalries include The Holy War and Goon Gate, but of the 10 individual series between the schools, none has become as competitive as that between Temple and Villanova. The two rivals moved their games out of the Palestra in 1986 (each vying for any advantage… the Palestra was “too neutral”), they alternate these days between Villanova’s 6,500 seat Pavilion on the Mainline and Temple’s 10,500 seat Liacouras Center on North Broad Street. Temple may be on the short end of the series by a mere two games, but the Owls host this year. Villanova will be led by junior point guard Maalik Wayns and center Mouphtaou Yarou. Temple will counter with three (maybe four?) guards, led by seniors Ramone Moore and point guard Juan Fernandez, along with junior off guard Khalif Wyatt.
