RTC Live is back today with a four-game slate from Queens to Berkeley. There are a lot of expectations surrounding Mike Montgomery’s team this year; see if the Cal Bears can live up to those lofty accolades in the new (and not improved) Pac-12, after the jump.
Game 7: Welcome to Beserkeley, epicenter of a recent cluster of earthquakes and, depending on whom you ask, the location of the best team in the Pac-12 this season. Cal head coach Mike Montgomery is back from successful recent bladder cancer surgery, which has to make the 64-year old coach feel great, but what no doubt has put even more of a bounce in his step is knowledge that he has as much talent returning as he’s had in his four seasons at California. The trio of Allen Crabbe, Jorge Gutierrez, and Harper Kamp are three all-conference caliber players that provide the Bears with heady guard play, scoring from the wing, and a physical presence inside — key ingredients for any team with big aspirations. The Bears pounded UC Irvine, 77-56, on opening night behind Crabbe’s 24 points. New George Washington head coach Mike Lonergan brings his team cross-country tonight after easily defeating Maryland-Eastern Shore Friday. His backcourt of Tony Taylor and Lasan Kromah are the two players that will have to bring a big game tonight in order for GW to pull off the upset. The A-10 team with a fair amount of returning talent from a fourth-place finish last season should not be taken lightly. Join us tonight for the conversation…
