RTC Live: Wofford @ Georgia

Posted by rtmsf on November 11th, 2011

RTC Live tips off the first big night of the year with a couple of warm-up games. Tonight Kevin Doyle  (@KLDoyle11) travels to Athens to see how Mark Fox’s team will recover from some key personnel losses; join the conversation from SEC country below, after the jump.

Game 3: Although SEC hoops takes a backseat to football in the month of November—football in the SEC is a religion that is practiced on Saturdays to many—there is a compelling game of roundball that will act as a nice prelude to those football games the following day as Wofford visits Georgia in the season opening tilt for both teams. There are only a handful of games on the docket this evening pitting two teams that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament against each other, and this happens to be one of them. Both Georgia and Wofford will be without the services of their top performers last year as Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie for the Bulldogs for the NBA and graduation claimed Noah Dahlman for Wofford. Suffice it to say, both teams will have a different look in the 2011-12 campaign. Will Mark Fox’s team elevate themselves into the same conversation as Kentucky, Florida and Vanderbilt in the SEC “East” as the year progresses? Can the Bulldogs build upon last year’s Tournament berth? Can Wofford take advantage of a younger Georgia squad seeking to find their identity, and in doing so prove they are a team to be reckoned with in the SoCon? Those questions and more will begin to be answered tonight at Stegeman Coliseum.
