RTC Live is pleased to be back covering games from coast to coast for its fourth season. Tonight John Templon (@nybuckets) from Big Apple Buckets will be in Queens to check in on Year Two of the Steve Lavin era; join the conversation from NYC below, after the jump.
Game 1: A super-young St. John’s team opens the season against William & Mary at Carnesecca Arena on Monday night. The Red Storm’s head coach, Steve Lavin, is currently recovering from a bout with prostate cancer, and while he’s texting furiously, it’s his team of assistants who have given him a roster that includes seven players who have never played a Division I game before. Malik Stith is the leading returning scorer for St. John’s, and he averaged only 3.3 points per game. The Tribe, a member of the CAA, bring preseason all-CAA swingman Quinn McDowell and a team picked sixth in the conference to Queens. Young vs. old, it’s a classic story to start the college basketball season.
