The narrative goes that the SEC is all about college football first, second, and third, and we won’t argue with that — the love affair with the pigskin in places like Tuscaloosa, Athens, Baton Rouge and Knoxville is probably more torrid than anywhere else in America. But even if college basketball falls behind football, football recruiting and football spring practice in much of this league, there are places where roundball matters too. And with importance comes success, which is why three SEC teams are renting space in the national Top 10 this season with several others approaching relevance on the cusp of the Top 25.
