General News

  • Jamari Traylor Signs With Bill Self And Kansas: “After the news that Trevor Lacey is staying at home and attending Alabama, Kansas fans could use some good news and it looks like we have some. IMG Academy’s website as well as others are reporting that Jamari Traylor has committed to the Kansas Jayhawks.” (Rock Chalk Talk)
  • Big East/SEC Challenge pairings: A full listing of games in this year’s inter-conference challenge.  (Card Chronicle)
  • Regents Approve Crisler Arena Makeover: “The University of Michigan Regents approved the schematic designs of the $52 million makover to Crisler Arena. The overhaul will include new fan entrances, additional retail and ticketing spaces as well as a private club space.” (UM Hoops)

Recruiting

  • Spring Scouting: James Blackmon Jr.: Analyzing one of Indiana’s two class of 2014 recruits. (Inside the Hall)
  • Justin Anderson Officially “Reconsidering” Maryland Pledge, Taking Visits: “This story has transcended the purgatory that is “rumor status” and is now a legitimate deal: Justin Anderson, arguably Maryland’s biggest commitment since the halcyon days of Mike Jones, has decommitted from the Terrapins. There are now two relatively reputable sources – the Washington Post’s Josh Barr and NBC’s Dan Hellie (I know he’s an anchor, but so is Chick and SVP, and we listen to them) – saying that Anderson has decommitted, or in nicer language is “reconsidering.” Given the amount of smoke we’ve seen, there are definitely some embers somewhere in there” (Testudo Times)
  • With Maryland’s New Staff in Place, Where Do Terrapins Stand in Recruiting?: “The staff is finally set in place. (We’re pretty sure about that.) Maryland’s three assistants flanking Mark Turgeon on the sideline will be the high-powered crew of Scott Spinelli, Dalonte Hill, and Bino Ranson. We talked about the Terrapin assistants earlier, if you’re interested in the people, but for a one-sentence summary: they have local recruiting connections, and lots of them. So why not have entire post dedicated to the one area they’ll have the most impact on: recruiting?” (Testudo Times)

Analysis

  • Mapping The Coaching Carousel: Analysis of the movement of coaches between programs. (Halcyon Hoops)
  • The Big Ten’s money play:  Examining the controversial proposal. (Inside the Hall)

  • 2011-12 Men’s Basketball: Non-Conference Schedule Analysis: Breaking down Purdue’s non-conference schedule. (Hammer and Rails)
  • Late Commitments Not Breaking Kentucky’s Way: “One of the problems with the embarrassment of riches enjoyed by John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats is that playing time on the 2011-12 team looks very hard to come by, even for great players like Trevor Lacey and DeAndre Daniels. Of course, calling that a “problem” is kind of like hitting the Powerball lottery and realizing you don’t have any idea how to handle that much money. It’s a problem, but it’s the kind of problem everyone would love to try on.” (A Sea of Blue)
  • A Post-Deadline Look at the Big East: Pittsburgh Panthers: The Panthers will have a younger team this season after playing with one of the oldest in the country last season. (Casual Hoya)
  • Which teams does Derrick Williams fit on in the 2011 NBA Draft?: Taking a look at potential destinations for the Arizona forward. (Arizona Desert Swarm)
  • A Post-Deadline Look at the Big East: Providence Friars: A preview of what the Friars might look like without Marshon Brooks. (Casual Hoya)
  • Klay Thompson Could Be Sitting On Edge Of Lottery: “When Klay Thompson declared for the NBA Draft about a month ago, many of us wondered if he might be flirting with the second round. But with the NBA Draft Lottery now in the books, not only does Thompson appear to be a consensus first rounder — he might just be making his way into one of those top 14 picks.” (Coug Center)
