The same logic would paint Tom Izzo as incompetent after allowing his Michigan State team to play on in the final seconds of last year’s NCAA Tournament game against Maryland. Of course, his decision seemed to work out pretty well.

Harvard did a study on this very topic, and found that the coaches who allow their teams to play are actually MORE competent than their counterparts who choose to call the timeout.
