I’m not really sure why Jeff published that article, but it’s really but telling of the frustration that is felt against the OC/LB D1 teams. Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, and UC Irvine should be midmajor powerhouses by default of their proximity to some of the best talent in the nation. However for some reason there aren’t enough high-profile locals that are on any of those squads. Even UC Riverside should be an amazing team since the IE produces so many good players every so often.

The way I see it, it’s just some venting over the fact that the OC, with so much paper coverage on its youth, isn’t partaking in any of the joy of local school pride due to the departure of its perceived gems going elsewhere and that he’s just expressing it on their collective behalf.

With that said, Bob Burton at CSF deserves alot more respect more picking the best Juco players he can grab since that’s a talent pool that never gets enough proper attention regardless of where they come from. And more attention should be written by the Register for Concordia University and their system even if they are at a different class.

(Don’t bait me by saying “Well then there should be coverage on the local Jucos.” Nobody wants to play at a Juco no matter how talented you are.)
