I’ve got Sullinger and Barnes on my first team AA and Irving on my third… And there are probably close to another half dozen freshman that I at least considered for a moment…

And, also, I’m with Ryan… I really like Barlow for Purdue too, one of the reasons I don’t expect a huge dropoff for the Boilers in the absence of Hummel.

And finally, while in theory, I appreciate the extra hour of sleep tonight, I’m bummed that the start of college basketball season is that extra hour away. I dunno about y’all, but Rhode Island/Pittsburgh sounds like an awful fine game…

I really like Barlow for Purdue. He will step up and have a big year.

Don’t forget about John Hart now!!!

Yeah, I’m with Zach on this. Recent history has shown that if you fail to recognize that many of the top talents in college basketball are freshmen, then you’re doing yourself a disservice. Of course, recent history has also shown that those guys, while exceptionally talented, are not seasoned enough to carry their teams to the F4 either.

Barnes & Sullinger are on my preseason first team. Irving is on my second.

All I’m saying is that it’s a PREDICTION. I’m not saying he definitively is right now.

I don’t think this unreasonable.

Barnes is the #1 incoming freshman in the country. That immediately vaults you into the discussion for national player of the year. One preseason game stat line changes nothing.

I don’t see how his 7 point, 5 rebound, 6 turnover performance against a D2 team that went 14-14 last year vaults him into the POY discussion.

By the end of March, I see him as the 2nd best player in the country. Was Derrick Rose top 2? Wall? Durant? There’s enough history here that it’s not too crazy.

That just seems absurd to me.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to make a judgment like that based on AAU and HS performances.

Agreed, I see Purdue in the 10-20 range for most of the year. The loss of Chris Kramer shouldn’t be discounted however.

2. Gottlieb and Katz gave Wofford some good press during their weekly chat.

3. I’ve got Duke losing 4 games: vs. Kansas State (assuming they get by Gonzaga and Duke beats Marquette), @ FSU, @ NC State and @ UNC.

4. I don’t see how it can be worse. Yes Cal will be much worse, ASU probably the same or down, Stanford worse, the Oregon schools still bad, but Arizona, UCLA and Washington State should be better. As will Washington at the top of the league.

5. I’ll take Villanova but don’t sleep on Syracuse. I don’t think Pitt will live up to the lofty expectations.

6. Everyone from Willard on down are saying Hazell will be a different player this year. We’ll see but I’m inclined to believe it. With Pope back to 100% now, Polynice coming in and Willard getting them to play D will be the difference.

7. Curry gets all the hype but you’re right on Echenique. Playing in the MVC he could really dominate. So many transfers out there so this is really a shot in the dark.

8. I think Cronin, DeChellis, Pat Knight, Doc Sadler, and maybe Paul Hewitt are major conference coaches that could be cut loose. I think Davis gets another year or two at Providence. They invested a lot of money in him and it’s only been two seasons.

9. I generally don’t agree with freshmen being honored before they’ve even played a minute of college ball but Barnes is certainly the best in a while.

10. It’s really hard to guess on November 6 but I’ll throw out these four: Duke, Michigan State, Villanova and Kansas.
