Hemogoblin – I’m not sure about that. It’s hard for me to say with a straight face that Clemson played all that well tonight at home against FSU or that Miami was really strong against Ga Tech. I mean, jeez, the Hurricanes shot 37%, and I think Clemson was barely at or above 40% tonight. Maybe you could argue they were strong defensively, but that doesn’t seem right to me either.

I’ve been saying that the ACC is just a marginally stronger version of the Pac-10 this year – a bunch of really mediocre teams (exception: Duke) that are inconsistent no matter where they play. If you look at KenPom’s consistency ratings (http://kenpom.com/rate.php?s=Consistency), you’ll find that there are six ACC teams in the bottom 50+ of the list. You just cannot know what to expect from some of these teams.

From my view, the league looks like it’ll get 1 or 2 teams into the Sweet Sixteen this year (and possibly a third if the beneficiary of an upset), but I can’t realistically see any more than that.

With the amount of parity that conference has, teams shouldn’t be able to win on the road anywhere (besides BC and NC State… this year).
