This is particularly true, in that back when the J-school prof made his comment, rookies were getting enormous contracts. Now, the real money is in the second contract, after the first 3 years. Compare how much the real stars make on that contract, vs. what journeymen make. Yeah, I know, they all make stupid big amounts, but compartively? I’d rather be the new version of Duncan any day.

The first 2 were considered superior, Smith was ACC POY. They bolted early, Duncan stayed 4. Not only got the college experience, but learned how to play.
Recent UNC frosh Brandan Wright and Marvin Williams, both great prospects and good guys, still …
Almost nobody benefits from leaving after freshman year, most should stay at least 3, in their own interest.

The top teams from the BCS conferences will all have one or two and done players on their roster which is why the National Champion will always come from thsoe conferences. You think the John Walls and Xavier henrys of thw world will ever go to St. Joes or Penn or Richmond?
