RTC Blogpoll – Summer 2009 Edition

Posted by zhayes9 on July 28th, 2009

I’m proud to re-introduce a feature here at Rush the Court – the RTC Blogpoll.

From November through March during the college hoops season, check back here every Monday for the rankings of our four main scribes- myself, rtmsf, nvr1983 and jstevrtc- combined into one, fantastic Top 25 ranking. Take that, AP and coaches!  The aggegrate of our own internal poll will constitute what we submit to the larger national Blogpoll each week.

To get our loyal readers into hoops mode even for a few minutes during the long offseason, here’s a summer edition of the rankings with commentary provided by yours truly regarding each ranked team. Look for this feature on a weekly basis during the 2009-10 campaign (which, as I concluded while compiling this poll, cannot come soon enough).

  1. 2 issues, Villanova #3, Duke #8? Villanova is #7 at best, Duke, not even in the top 15.

  2. Jameson says:

    Here’s my beef:
Xavier is not better than Dayton. There’s no argument in my book on how Xavier could be better than Dayton.

Duke is better than North Carolina, especially if Andre Dawkins is eligible for Duke. If Dawkins is there, Duke is one of the best teams in the country.

UConn is not that good. Dyson, Walker, Robinson doesn’t make a top 10 team. They are top 25, but not top 10.

  3. rtmsf says:

Jameson – I had Dayton #18 and Xavier NR so agreed there.

Duke is better than UNC on paper, but I don’t think they ultimately will be, so I’ve rated them higher in an out-of-season poll.

Also agreed on UConn – rated them #15 on my list. Would have been much lower had Majok not been eligible.

    Appreciate the comments, though.

  4. I’m glad Singler and Scheyer are there to compliment each other. Just think of the possibilities!

“Man, you’re so awesomely white” “You too!”

Anyway – I think if Duke gets Dawkins, you can’t rank them lower than UNC. Otherwise, UK and Purdue are ranked too low. While I like that Clemson is ranked (go ACC), I’d like to see Purnell utilize Booker more and the press less before I remain convinced of their top 25 status.

  5. Tommy says:

No love for my Terps?!?! They’re a second round team that only lost Dave Neal and is bringing in two strong froshes to bolster the frontcourt. Greivis+Gary in 09-10!!!
