I saw the news on ESPN first and came here for analysis after. For me, it’s all about the language they use when reporting these stories. Instead of saying, “Floyd to arizona”, they should report something more along the lines of “A deal is rumored to be in place which will bring Floyd to Arizona”.
I have seen it a hundred times over the past few years with the WWL and others. It’s gotten to the point where I do not believe anything they report until I see the coach moving in to his new office or a player don a new jersey.

JR – no offense taken. Until we develop our own contacts, we’re largely dependent on “mainstream” media sources for our information like this. Our general rule is that we won’t run a rumor until a mainstream source reports it, but as you indicated, they’re getting it wrong more often than not. We may need to re-establish our guidelines as well.

There is too much information that turns out to be false, such as the Tim Floyd rumors. I can appreciate a good rumor, but I wish outlets would not pass it off as fact until a signature is in place and a presser is scheduled. (no disrespect to you)
