I understand that play holds a special place in your heart, but the Elite 8 is a “much bigger stage” than the 2nd round. As great as Edney’s basket was, it didn’t have the immediate significance that the one on Saturday night did. Sure you can look back at the Edney shot now and say that its significance was bigger to the national title than what Reynolds did (particularly if UNC runs Villanova out of the gym on Saturday night), but I never argued that. Read the sentence again. I said that this shot was on a bigger stage (Elite 8 with the entire college basketball nation versus 2nd round cut-in on opening weekend). I’m not sure how you can argue otherwise, but I am sure you will try to defend your idol even if I wasn’t knocking him.

Scotty Reynolds prevented overtime. Compared to Edneys move that was a MUCH less important shot.
