I did take into account that Butler’s RPI/SOS would drop relative to other teams in the top 30 or so with more games against weaker Horizon League opponents. Now this argument is moot, anyway. With the loss Monday night, Butler is a 5-seed at best.

I’m sure that Zach will speak for himself eventually, but my impression is that he usually does this predicting future results (looking forward to Selection Sunday). I can see where that would come into play as it would drop Butler’s RPI since their remaining SOS is really weak compared to other top 20 teams. Of course, if they go undefeated the rest of the way, that probably wouldn’t come into play.

Mon, 02 Feb 2009 23:01:48 +0000http://rushthecourt.wordpress.com/?p=4313#comment-1593So let me get this straight.
The No. 11 team in the country, with an RPI 8 or 9, depending on who you go to, gets a 5-seed in your bracket.
What?!
Butler is 11th in the poll that came out today. If you just take that, they’re a 3-seed and not the worst 3. If you go by RPI, they’re a 2 or 3. How did they become a 5?
